The principals of E&B have been involved with hundreds of construction defect matters ranging from homeowner claims to complex multi-million dollar disputes to multi-state class action matters, providing litigation support and Expert Witness services on behalf of Building Owners, Developers, Design Professionals, Insurance Carriers, Product Manufacturers and Contractors.

The principals of E&B have regularly provided litigation support and Expert Witness services in matters involving claims of errors, omission and defective professional services on the part of Architects, Engineers and other design professionals.

E&B has extensive experience investigating the performance of all components of building exterior envelopes including foundations and slabs-on-grade; exterior walls and roofs of all types and configurations; and, doors and windows.

E&B assists design professionals and contractors during the design development phase, assisting in the integration of waterproofing, flashing, air barriers, vapor barriers, sealant and other critical components in the exterior building envelope design.

E&B can provide community noise assessments (outdoor sound profiles) of construction equipment, building mechanical installations, source and receptor exposure, industrial equipment, et. al., and can develop means and methods of reducing the impact of those sources (sound attenuation design and evaluation).

As lead investigator or as a team player, E&B can provide building assessment related to real estate transactions or can establish long-term maintenance programs for facilities. E&B has integrated the work of multiple consultants including structural, mechanical, electrical, elevator, building department, metallurgical, cost estimators, testing companies, microbiologists and hazardous material abatement consultants (asbestos, lead, PCB’s, mold, bird droppings, etc).

Using both high-tech tools and traditional investigation skills, E&B has participated in hundreds of investigations related to indoor air quality issues including diagnosing mold contamination, tracing sources of objectionable odors, identifying and locating carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide sources, assessing effects of poor ventilation or excess humidity, and other health-related investigations involving environmental contamination.

E&B has the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the insurance industry, and can rapidly and effectively investigate the “cause and origin” of damages being claimed in property insurance matters involving a wide variety of natural events including tornados, hurricanes, severe cold weather and floods, as well as determining long-term lack of maintenance or abuse.

E&B regularly is called on to trouble shoot defective performance of air conditioning and ventilation systems in private residences, apartment buildings, industrial facilities and commercial facilities, and can develop practical solutions to the identified defects, including repair or replacement options.
